At Zuri, every scarf we create carries a story — a story of dreams, determination, and faith. Today, we want to share the journey of the first of our three founders, whose spirit of entrepreneurship started blooming long before adulthood.
From as early as 8th grade, she felt a deep pull towards building something of her own. While many around her dreamt of landing high-paying jobs at prestigious firms, her heart was set on a different path. She never wondered about working for someone else; she dreamt of creating something that belonged to her—something meaningful, something lasting. Yes, we are talking about the soul of Zuri, our first founder, who started with a vision of selling her textile work by providing creative, warm items. Now, she has developed a studio filled with opportunities by adding more people to her team to be alongside her throughout this journey of Zuristudio
The seed of entrepreneurship had been quietly planted within us as Muslim females, nurtured by our growing understanding of Islam’s deep respect for trade and business. We found endless inspiration in the life of Hazrat Khadija (RA) — a remarkable woman who was not only the first wife of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) but also a successful and respected businesswoman. Her life taught us that business, when done with integrity and purpose, is a noble pursuit, deeply rooted in our faith.
As we learned more about our Code of Life, we realized that trade has always held an honorable place in Islam. It is a means of providing for oneself, empowering others, and contributing to society fairly and sincerely. This understanding didn’t just strengthen our ambitions — it gave them direction.
